On a frustratingly related note, Sorry about the lack of embedded video, but WordPress is seemingly a useless piece of shit software that has broken proper embedding of videos from Youtube. It’s no wonder I hardly come here anymore.

This album is just kicking my ass. Not only is it unbelievably great electro pop from the St Lawrence seaboard, but also it’s virtually unknown. Check out the album, or the video below.

Killiney Beach is now open again to residents & insolents come 8AM, so I am being forced into hard labour to finsih my place for y’all to come on up & have some fun on August 8th.

I was reading up upon our Nuclear oops as humans & it took me all of 3 minutes to connect these two: East-Ural Radioactive Trace = Taganai Nature Reserve.

Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyshtym_disaster referencing East-Ural Nature Reserve & the related nuclear destruction second only to Chernobyl, and then throw the phrase into your search engine to find : http://www.russia.com/urals/chelyabinsk/taganai-park/
promoting the same region as having “been praised by travelers, poets and artists”. Mmmhmmm…as a nuclear wasteland no doubt.

WORK
It’s been a busy few weeks, with more busy ones ahead than behind. My pops flew out with my shithead 15 year old brother as an assistant. Brock my bro decided to skate my knarly hill in front of my house on a regular skate & proceeded to donate most of the layers of hand skin to the country gods. Wrapped in banadages he was pretty much useless for the time he was here & then he bought a ticket home to chase some tail back in Ontario…as if Kelowna tail wasn’t abundant. So now it’s just me & my dad working away, wrapping up painting today, some tile work done already, and starting on the bamboo flooring in the next few days.

PARTY
There is the little issue of a partay that needs to be mentioned. Yes there is going to be one, and yes YOU are invited. Yes it’s located at 635 Udell Rd. Vernon & happens on Agust 8th. Yes Shaun will get naked at some point in the night. These are certainties. What is uncertain is what exact state the house will be in. The schedule is modified now though, and not everything will be 100% complete, so this is going to be celebrating Funboy’s fantastically timed birthday. A grand opening/finally finished soire is going to be sometime in September. Stay tuned for more info.
When:August 8th
Where: Going up the Country, 635 Udell Rd, Vernon
What: Adam’s birthday bash
Who: You! Bratworst attendance mandatory!
The details: Some tenting may be required depending on turnout. I have extra tents, bring sleeping gear. BYOB (I am house broke ok) but BBQ foods provided.

PICS
Here is where we are at:

Check it out, things are really cooking

25May09

It’s 2am. I have been infiltrated with weird fumes all day, nervous about tomorrow, can’t sleep, so I post. This always makes me think that I should be doing something more productive, like sleeping.

Darla & I sealed the concrete today. Was a quick & easy job as I thought it would be. Also very chemically. When we got to the house 2 little birds were trying to fly out my garage window. I understand; it’s so big that even I too think I can step out into nature. And that’s just my garage. Of course I caught the wee birdies in my hands & set them free. They were pretty cool. Totally not BBQ material.

Busy week this week: Electrical, Plumbing, Insulating (Friday), staining rest of wood (lots!), working all week, etc.

Will update soon with some more pics.

I did have time to do this today though: Haha. yep it’s hilarious

Here are some recent pics of the place that I will soon call home

I picked up these fantastic light sconsces for an amazing price…all together they totalled under $120!

The following is a response to a letter to the editor in the Capitol News on May 6th in response to this article about the pontoons from the old floating bridge. I sent it to the editor & will remove it if published as per publication requirements.

Shaun Cameron Wrote:

Not typically a fan of PPP’s (Private Public Partnerships)/Arpo’s proposal. After reading the original article I knew that both sides represented their own arguments & not the grander picture.

I am 15 years out of high school but even I know that the key to winning a debate (in this case Public/Private Proposal vs Public Propriety Proposal) is understanding the opposition & acknowledging their strengths while addressing their weaknesses with concise implementation.

All I see are two sides presenting their rhetoric & poorly devised comparisons of apples & oranges.

Yes the City’s proposal will cost Kelowna tax payers out of pocket, but it will bring a Return on Investment (ROI) that will result in higher tax dollar retention & usage (based on my theory that if you are in Kelowna for the long term you WILL reap the rewards, but if you are speculating then you might want to move on or else pay to play here). Average taxpayers are left wondering why they pay for Mrs. Well-To Do’s second yacht moorage with the Yacht Club while they are left with the brunt of the bill, but this sort of deal can be worked out over the years via appropriate fees for usage. The taxpayers retain control & ultimate say through the lengthy bureaucratic/ democratic process.

The alternative is that a private enterprise takes over much of Kelowna’s prime lakeshore to develop their profit based interpretation of what marketing says is desired. But wait…that is NOT bad! In itself & my wording, it sounds horrible, but in reality, given the obvious focus of locals (residents, speculators, business owners, environmentalists, transients, et al.). Chances are with this we will experience progress at an accelerated level with adaptive ability to give what people in Kelowna want. Private enterprise has the ability to adapt at an accelerated rate, but like other adaptive entities such as viruses we must not let private enterprise take control of the public through litigation & logistic manipulation.

I know we as residents want safe & exciting & diverse experiences every time we step out our doors. We are not a retirement community, nor are we the fruit picking, hichhiking~stomping tom town of yore (no disrespect, we love you Stomping Tom!). Instead we are a vibrant city filled with country & metro folk, we drive jacked up trucks & Kei cars. We dine at Dakotas & feast at Summerhill. We love love our local wines, beers, hills & mountains; many say there’s a sushine tax but it’s more like a fountain.

If in the end we do give this to a private For Profit Company, lets just make sure that it doesn’t mean that we have to go this way every time…precedent is too easily a word, let alone a mantra.
